Assessing
Assessing
As
busy Sign Language interpreters who establish a
regular client group, become enriched with prior
knowledge and indulge in somewhat flexibly boundaried
relationships, it can sometimes be of benefit to take
an interpreter health check, an MOT if you like, just
to confirm that all is still ticking over nicely.
Often working on our own for
weeks at a time, it can be reassuring to have
objective feedback from an experienced practitioner on
the many aspects of our work and role.
A simple checklist is used
that covers the following areas of practice:
-Presence
& Personality
-Impartiality
-Expertise
(beyond the NOS)
-Interventions
and Decisions
-Cultural
sensitivity
As well as a general
assessment of skills and technique.
Full Day and Evening.
