Feedback from Reflective Groups
Feedback from Reflective Groups
I now look at
everything I do in a more thought out way,
thinking of my decisions consciously and
working out what is appropriate to do in
different contexts. I can learn a lot from
listening to other interpreter's experiences -
positive or negative(!) - to understand their
dilemmas and how they overcame them, and it's
such a supportive environment. It's good to
receive feedback from your own experiences,
and give feedback to others - we all work
together as one big team. This is an
opportunity to get together and remember we
have a team that supports us and goes through
the same things we do.
I really value our
sessions and look forward to them. I think it
has been very beneficial talking about our
assignments and dilemma's. I personally have
learnt a lot from your experience. Thank
you.
I found them to be
really useful platform for voicing our
dilemmas, particularly as it was rare for us
to all come together to share our experiences.
I definitely learnt a lot from these times.
It has been very
beneficial to meet together as a group and
discuss/analyse assignments. It gives us an
opportunity to realise things we may not have
picked up and advise one another. It also
helps with planning for future assignments
For me the group
has been a major source of support, getting my
registration and being the "baby" of the team.
I think there's always a feeling of "Am I
doing the right thing?" when you start to do
more bookings in different situations, and
it's nice to draw on the experience of other
interpreters that have been through that and
hear their views/advice. It also helps me to
understand why I did certain things, why I
made the decisions I made and what alternative
decisions could have been made and the
associated impacts.
X had obviously been carrying that job with her, for the past two years (!) because there was no opportunity for her to work through the experience..... she said she felt much better afterwards. And I think it’s useful for the others to see even she has dilemmas and issues to work through.
