External Support for Practitioners
External Support for Practitioners
A
year-long, monthly package of facilitated professional
development to interpreter practitioners - employed or
self-employed.
The ESP incorporates elements
of Supervision, Mentoring, Teaching, Coaching, guided
analysis and Training. It does not include assessing.
A safe, non-judgemental
group environment within which to analyse, explore,
challenge and develop as a professional BSL/English
interpreter.
For a number of years David
has been facilitating Groups and
running Workshops. From
feedback received he has developed a package of
support to practicing Sign Language
interpreters. Interpreters who are employed in
an organisation can benefit from external,
profession-specific support. Freelance
interpreters benefit from a contained, safe and
regular environment within which to rehearse,
test themselves and develop to their full
potential. This 12 session programme not
only meets the requirements of continued registration,
but enhances and develops the service that group
members provide to their clients.
The package consists of
three full day sessions that repeat throughout the
year.
Reflective
Group (every quarter from month 1)
Themed Workshop (every
quarter from month 2)
Personal Mentoring (every
quarter from month 3)
Discussions are centred
around our professional practice and recognise our
intrinsic expertise in dealing with the demands of the
job in a caring and professional way.
Guided and supported by
David, a practitioner with many years of experience as
an interpreter, trainer and mentor, participants are
encouraged to discuss their work at an advanced level
by using upgraded meta language to describe and
analyse what they do in their practice.
Feedback from
current and previous group members can be read here.
